It All Started as the Baker Hotel...

Completed in 1954, the 12-story Baker Hotel brought much excitement with new opportunities & revenue streams to Hutchinson, KS.  With 170 air-conditioned guest rooms, 6 private meeting or dining rooms, a ball & banquet room, 6 commercial units and the "Pegues in the Baker" gift shop, this was quite an addition to the downtown area!  During its first year open, the hotel drew 45 conventions and 22,000 visitors to the Hutchinson area.

After having several different owners & flagship changes, the hotel ended up closing its doors in 1973.  New ownership in 1976 brought upgrades to the building along with the conversion of some old hotel rooms to apartments.  Since that time, the building has seen a variety of living accommodations, including senior living with a salon, medical options and cafeteria for tenants.

One thing that hasn't been altered over the years is the ballroom.  Many memorable events like weddings, proms and other special gatherings have been hosted in that venue over the years.  With new owners purchasing the building in the summer of 2020, they have been excited to reignite that space for more events & special occasions.
